Everything that we do at Highland Park Baptist Church centers around the Gospel of Jesus Christ...the saving power that is available to all who believe. We aim to not only strengthen our faith and unity as a church but also to reach out to those around us, both near and far, with the Good News that we are eager to share.
First and foremost, how do you have assurance of truth in what we teach? How do we determine the principles and doctrine that are taught in our Sunday sermons, small group studies, and other gatherings? It’s simple…the Bible. The Bible is the ultimate authority and the measuring rod of all assertions.

Now, on to some specifics...
Believers have always had a confession (a statement of the basics of what they believe). Peter himself confessed to Jesus, "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God" (Matt. 16:16). Great confessions such as the Augsburg Confession and the Westminster Confession became standards for confessional Christianity.
Baptists, using such great former confessions, later put together most notably: the London Confession, the Second London Confession, and the New Hampshire Confession. These confessions gave rise to both the Abstract of Principles as well as the statement of faith to our church, the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message. In an effort to better clarify our Biblical position on portions of the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message, Highland Park voted to adopt five Doctrinal Statements in 2009. In 2016, Highland Park added that Statement of Basic Beliefs, summarizing essential Christian doctrine in just two pages.
